Capua : Michelin's recommendations
Legend tells us that the Roman town of Capua (present-day Santa Maria Capua Vetere, 4km southeast of modern Capua) was so delightful that Hannibal's victorious army preferred to linger here, rather than march on Rome. Capua was founded by the Lombards and was the native town of Ettore Fieramosca, the captain who became an Italian hero after defeating the French in the Disfida di Barletta (Challenge of Barletta).
