This solid building defending the port is a Renaissance building that was started by Bramante , continued by Sangallo le Jeune and Bernin and completed by Michelangelo after whom it is named in 1557.

This museum displays Etruscan and Roman collections unearthed in excavations carried out in the area. Among the objects on display, there is a surprising collection of Roman anchors.

The spas (also called Terme Taurine ) are actually made up of two developments. The western development dates back to the Republican period whilst the second and best-preserved development was built under Hadrian, Trajan's successor.
