Iglesias
: Michelin's recommendations
With a 13C castle, medieval churches galore, a remarkable old town and Liberty buildings, the glorious past of Iglesias is very much in evidence. The surrounding hills are run through with the lead, zinc and silver mines that made the region's fortune and have today been converted to serve industrial tourism. In a nod to its proud mining past, the town is the seat of the Parco Geominerario Storico e Ambientale della Sardegna, a park which brings together all of the island's mining sites.
