Jesi
: Michelin's recommendations
Known as Aesis in Roman times, Jesi became prosperous in the 12C thanks to Frederick II, who was born here in 1194. The small town has retained its medieval and Renaissance nucleus, which is surrounded by magnificent ramparts interspersed with gates and watchtowers. The municipal theatre is dedicated to another native of Jesi, the composer Giovan Battista Pergolesi.
