This was the centre of public life during the communal era (13C). Here you will see the Palace of the Podestà (or Broletto palace), built in the 13C and which was partially remodelled two centuries later. On its façade, it has a seated statue of Virgil . In the corner of the square you will see the Communal Tower, which later became a prison.
