The cathedral was built in the 14C but has been altered often since then. It contains the relics of Saint Januarius, the focus of an incredible fervour of popular faith. The liquefaction of the saint's blood, which takes place every year in May, is a national event! The interior contains several beautiful mosaics and frescoes.
