Built between 1290 and 1600 in volcanic tufa rock by more than a hundred artists, the cathedral at Orvieto has an admirable facade, both in the severity of its vertical lines, and in the richness of its decorations, sculptures on high, mosaics and marble in the lower part. Inside you will see, in the chapel of the Madonna of St Brice, an admirable cycle of frescoes, begun by Fra Angelico and continued by Luca Signorelli.
