The huge Cathedral of Pavia is topped by one of the largest domes in Italy. Its construction began in 1488 and the inhabitants of Pavia will assure you without joking that Bramante and Leonardo da Vinci aided in the design of the plans. The adjacent medieval tower collapsed in 1989.
