This is the main square where everything happened in ancient times. The large pedestrianised area was the setting for the city’s main public buildings – the great basilica where judicial and business matters were conducted, the macellum (covered market), Temple of Apollo (statues of Diana and Apollo), Temple of Jupiter, dedicated to the Capitoline Triad (Jupiter, Juno and Minerva), Temple of Vespasian, and finally the Eumachia.
