It is hard to describe the melancholy charm of this street flanked by monumental tombs and cypress trees. There are tombs with niches, small circular or square temples, altars resting on plinths, drum-shaped mausoleums, semi-circular seats (exedrae), in short all forms of funerary art are found in this silent and isolated place, perfect for meditation (especially since Vesuvius looms large in view!). On the bend is the villa of Diomedes with a loggia overlooking a garden.
