Recanati : Michelin's recommendations

Situated 7km southwest of Loreto, Recanati is a small hilltop town which, in 1798, was the birthplace of the most melancholic of Italian poets, Giacomo Leopardi, who wrote the lyrically moving Canti. The Pinacoteca Civica (Municipal Art Gallery) housed in the Villa Colloredo Mels exhibits several important works by Lorenzo Lotto and is well worth a visit.
