Perched on a strip of land on the north bank of Lake Garda, Riva del Garda is overlooked to the west by impressive sheer rockfaces. This elegant and sophisticated lakeside resort boasts an old town whose pastel façades are Austrian in character, while its narrow, lively streets are unmistakably Italian. Sights of interest include the Rocca des Scaliger (small museum), belfry (Torre Aponale), the fine Palazzo Pretorio (1370) and the town hall housed in a 15C palazzo.
