Bracciano Lake
Bracciano Lake : Michelin's recommendations
Formed by a volcano this lake is Italy's eighth largest in terms of its surface-area (57.5 km2) reaching 160m at its deepest point. Previously known as Lacus Sabatini, it played a major role in providing Rome with water. Trajan had a 30 km long aqueduct built which supplied water to the Trastevere quarter, in operation intermittently right up until the 17C.
