Sant'Antioco is the main town on the island of the same name, which in turn is the largest in the Sulcis archipelago. The volcanic island is relatively hilly and lined with high cliffs in the west. The town is linked to the Sardinian coast by a road. Beneath the basilica dedicated to St Antioch, visitors can see the catacombs dating from the 4C and 6C AD which have been sculpted from Punic hypogea.
