Sulcis was founded by the Phoenicians and gave its name to the archipelago. There is a Carthaginian necropolis. In the museum, there is a collection of steles and in the archaeological area, the tophet, used by the Phoenicians to ritually sacrifice their first-born sons. The tophet then served as a cemetery for stillborn babies and those who died very young.
