Adrano : Michelin's recommendations
According to legend, Adrano was founded by the tyrant Dionysius I and is one of the oldest towns of the Etna region. It has retained sections of the ancient Cyclopean ramparts, built with big, square blocks of lava rock. Its castle was built during the Norman period but remodelled by the Swabians and houses three museums (including an interesting regional archaeology museum). It also boasts a modern experimental solar power station.
