The convent and its church date from the 13C. The façade has retained a gothic portal and the single-nave interior has a beautiful baroque decor and five high-relief by Giacomo Serpotta. The Abbey stands out for its most attractive entrance to the chapter house. Its pointed-arch portal and two gemeled windows are a perfect example of the Arab-Norman style... and Benedictine nuns used to make almond biscuits and a "cuscusu" to tantalize the taste-buds of the fussiest gourmets.
