Caccamo : Michelin's recommendations
Caccamo, a pretty little town built on a rocky precipice, is thought to have been founded by the Phoenicians. It became an important stronghold during the Norman period, when its castle, the best preserved in Sicily, served as a meeting place for the Sicilian barons in league against King William I the Bad. In the 14C, the town became the domain of the Chiaramonte family, subsequently passing into the hands of other powerful Sicilian dynasties.
