Capo d'Orlando : Michelin's recommendations
Capo d'Orlando is a small seaside resort situated on a headland. According to legend, the town was founded in the 13C BC by the son of Aeolus, ruler of the winds (an indication of how breezy it can get here!). Another legend says that Charlemagne passed this way and gave the town its present name in memory of his knight Roland (Orlando in Italian). Enjoy a dip in the sea and take some time to stroll along the lively Via Piave, which runs parallel to the attractive beach and the sea.

This small church was built in the 17C at the end of a promontory of the Orlando Cape, over the ruins of the Castle of Orlando. The panoramic site here is admirable.
Excavations have unearthed the frigidarium, the tepidarium and the caldarium and even the suspensorae which helped heat the thermal rooms of an ancient Roman villa, near San Gregorio, the East suburb of the Orlando cape.
This early 20C villa is now a museum-foundation dedicated to the most famous members of the Piccolo family: Lucio, the poet; Casimiro, a painter and photographer; and their cousin Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, who wrote a large part of his works here..
