This museum set up in the old convent of the Benedictine nuns, was founded in the 19C by Francesco Minà Palumbo, a doctor who was passionate about Botany. He has compiled a register of the plants, reptiles and insects of the Modonie mountains and illustrated them on plates. Some of the species are now extinct.
