This square is graced by two lovely churches, the Chiesa Madre and the Chiesa del Purgatorio, the latter with a façade decorated with classical friezes, false balconies, and statues nestling in recesses. This style is a transition between late Mannerism and Baroque. The Teatro Selinus also overlooks the square. This 19C building has preserved its original stage curtain.
