This palazzo is the city's most handsome civic building. It is the work of Ignazio Biscari, an art, literature and archaeology enthusiast who financed numerous digs and set up an archaeology museum here (collections temporarily at San Francesco Borgia). The southern side is embellished with a rich decoration of figures, volutes, vine branches and putti, which frame the windows of the long terrace. Visit the reception rooms, especially the ballroom decorated with stucco, gilt and mirrors, and be sure to see the frescoes by Sebastiano Lo Monaco.
