Cicero described Centuripe as one of the most prosperous towns in Sicily. At the time the town, which now seems a bit off the beaten track, occupied a strategic location between the plain of Catania and the mountains inland. From its Roman past it has retained some fine monumental ruins, as well as interesting artefacts which are on display in the Museo Archeologico.
