Unfortunately, this legendary lake is now bordered by a racetrack. It was here that Hades, the God of hell fire, rose up in his golden chariot, pulled by immortal horses to kidnap Persephone, the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. The Goddess shouted and Demeter went to look for her until she obtained the permission to see her daughter again. However, Hades fed her pomegranate seed to keep her attached to him forever.
