Gibellina : Michelin's recommendations

Gibellina was destroyed by the earthquake which struck this region in 1968. The ruins of the town have been petrified into a work of art known as the Fissure (Cretto) by Alberto Burri, in which a layer of white concrete covers the old streets of the town. Built with the intention of creating a kind of outdoor museum, the new town is adorned with works of art by contemporary artists such as Isgro, Pomodoro or Pietro Consagra (The Star).
