Dominated by its fortress, the island's capital overlooks two bays, both of which are used as harbours (Marina Lunga and Marina Corta). The lower town of Lipari is perfect for a relaxing stroll, with its narrow alleyways, small shops and restaurants, while the citadel (known as the “castello”) offers fine views of the town and sea.
