Enviably located in a former Franciscan convent, this important collection of 19C-20C Italian and Sicilian pictures is presented in a pleasant and informative style. Great Sicilian artists of the 19C are represented, notably Francesco Lojacono (Marshland Scene) and Antonino Leto, whose work White Houses is particularly striking. The 20C exhibits include a Self-Portrait and Nude Reading by Renato Guttuso (the most important works in the museum’s collection).

    Pros

    Très agréable collection de peintures et sculptures, pour qui aime les oeuvres plutôt classiques dans leur forme. A voir plutôt en fin de séjour : vous pourrez alors "revisiter" certains lieux que vous avez vus, grâce aux tableaux de quelques salles du 1er étage.
