The chapel is the masterpiece of Baroque sculptor Giacomo Serpotta who worked here from 1686 to 1718. Angels and joyful putti cavort with total liberty of movement and expression; playing, sleeping, crying, laughing, climbing up the window frames, glancing mischievously from garlands of flowers, resting their hands pensively on their knees, or turning their backs on the viewer.
