Constructed in the late 16C to commemorate the triumphal entrance of Charles the Fifth, the gate marks the boundary of the historic district. This gate owes its charm to its beautiful Renaissance loggia topped with a sloping roof that is surmounted by the imperial eagle. It marks the point of departure of Corso Vittorio Emanuele, a rectilinear avenue closed at the other end by the Porta Felice.
