The church was built in 1178 under the reign of Roger II, but it truly entered the history books on 31st March 1282, when the revolt broke out that marked the start of the War of the Vespers, which saw the end of French domination in Sicily. The façade with sailants is incomplete, but you will find the typical Arabo-Norman style motifs on the sides and in the apses. The interior is simple and sparsely furnished.
