Paternò : Michelin's recommendations

In 1072, Roger II had a castle built here on top of a rocky crag. Its square shape is softened on one side by a series of four gemelled windows, which are crowned by a larger window in the same style. The black lava rock of the castle contrasts with the white stone of the windows. Near the castle stand the main church (of Norman origin) and the church of San Francesco. Paterno itself is cross-crossed by narrow streets dating from the 18C.
