This immense gallery in the Villa Romana del Casale, the Corridor of the Great Hunting Scene, contains fine mosaics. On the ground an astounding hunting scene depicts panthers, lions, antelopes, boars, ostriches, camels and elephants being captured and put into cages, then shipped to Rome to be used in circus shows. The composition is astonishing in its diversity, and the struggle between man and beast is illustrated with outstanding realism. You will admire the sense of action and movement, as well as the richness of the detail.
