In this room in the Villa Romana del Casale, the Room of the Small Hunt, five paintings illustrate the significant moments of a hunt. In an attempt to win favour with Diana, goddess of hunting, who is depicted on a column in the centre of the second row, a sacrifice in her honour is depicted. At the centre of the mosaic a banquet is taking place. The kill is roasting beneath a red canvas hung between the trees. All around are hunting scenes. The last panel shows the capture of stags in a net and a boar being slaughtered.
