The castle was built on the orders of Roger of Hauteville on the site of an old fortress. It has two square towers and a high round tower. Nearby are the ruins of the main church razed to the ground by the earthquake in 1968.

The church of the Jesuits has an attractive Baroque facade whilst the college holds the municipal museum which brings together works of religious art from the church that was destroyed in 1968. Note the magnificent Madonna of Candlemas by Domenic..
