The cathedral has a crenellated top which earned it the soubriquet of cathedral-fortress. It is dedicated to St Nicholas of Bari and was built in the 13C. The facade is decorated with a Renaissance doorway topped by a rose window. The interior is divided into three naves by monolithic columns in pink marble. There is an attractive polyptych from the 16C by Antonello de Saliba.
