St Pancras was the first bishop of Taormina and his fellow citizens built this church in honour of their pastor in the 17 C, utilising a temple that their ancestors had dedicated to Zeus. Some remains of it are still there on the left side of the sanctuary. Its graceful doorway, flanked by niches containing statues of Saints, in Taormina stone.
