200ha of this park are designed for farming tourism; the other half gives an insight into the business that dominated the life and destiny of so many families in the region, sulphur extraction, which was carried on here until 1984. Beyond the Pennisi palace, built around 1750 by the former owners of the mine, you can see the extraction well, the calcheroni in which the sulphur is separated from its ore and the galleries through which the molten sulphur ran.
