Visiting Cava Grande is a great way to discover the hidden landscapes of the Hyblaean Mountains. The viewing platform offers a wonderful view over the gorge with its imposing limestone walls that plunge into the depths of the valley. The stream that you can see below broadens to form little natural pools, which are accessible via a path. Slightly to the left an opening appears in the rockface: the entrance to the Grotta dei Briganti. The so-called Bandits Cave, thought to have housed a tannery, is a modest testament to one of the settlements of the southeast of Sicily.
