The collections exhibited in the museum evoke the role played by Taranto, under Greek domination from the 7C to the 3C BC. You should not miss the superb Poseidon, a locally produced bronze dating from the 6C BC, found in Ugento (some state with conviction that it is in fact Zeus), a remarkable series of ceramics and an exceptional collection of gold jewellery dating back to the Hellenistic period.
