Laid out before the cathedral, this central square is surrounded by monuments evocative of the Middle Ages. Find the Gothic Palazzo dei Priori, the former seat of the Podesta that dominates a curious trapezoid tower; the Palazzo del Capitano, also from the 13C, decorated with bays with small columns; and the Palazzo del Popolo (town hall), dating from 1213, which makes it one of the oldest in Italy. The latter houses a lapidary museum, an art gallery and an Etruscan and Roman museum.
