L'Ogliastra province stretches from the upper lake of the Flumendosa (to the west of Gennargentu) to the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Lanusei and Tortolì, the two main towns, stand in the centre. The "land of the olive trees", vines producing the famous Cannonau, as well as pastures, meet with huge ancient forests of evergreen oaks, common oaks; bastions and spectacular limestone peaks stand opposite a rocky pink and white coastline emerging from a clear blue sea.
