The prince-bishops of Trento lived in this castle from the 13C to the early 19C. The old castle (castelvecchio) with its famous Eagle Tower was decorated with frescoes depicting the months of the year by a Bohemian painter in the 15C: not to be missed. A 16C prince-bishop, Bernard Cles, added the Great Palace (Magno Palazzo) and had it decorated by Renaissance artists including work by painters from Ferrara and Brescia in the main rooms.
