In the centre of the old town, this square is surrounded by the Palace of the Podestat topped by a high belfry, the Trecento palace (1207) and the Renaissance Palazzo Pretorio. Below, on the Piazza Monte di Pietà is found the former pawnshop Monte di Pietà and, on Piazza San Vito there are, two churches, Santa Lucia and San Vito. The former is decorated with remarkable frescoes by Tommaso da Modena.
