Buonconvento : Michelin's recommendations
Built entirely of brick, this village surrounded by its medieval ramparts lies on the ancient Via Cassia which once linked Siena to Rome. It is crossed by the Via Soccini, a street adorned with a Jesuit-style fronted church and the Pretorio Palace which is dominated by an elegant tower, not dissimilar to the one in Siena. In 1313, Emperor Henry VII died in Buonconvento, which is also home to an interesting museum of sacred art.
