Carrara : Michelin's recommendations
Carrara lies on the edge of the Apuan Alps and is synonymous with marble. Famous across the globe, the white marble quarries near the town have been exploited since Roman times, producing a pure marble whose quality can only be compared to that of Paros in Greece. Michelangelo used to visit the quarries in person to choose the blocks of marble from which he would carve his masterpieces.
