In the Middle Ages, the Republic of Siena and the Papal States fought over this picturesque hillside village. Today, Cetona is popular with wealthy Italians and celebrities, many of whom have purchased and restored houses here. However, the real fascination of the village lies in the caves in the mountain overlooking Cetona, and the inhabitants who settled here as early as the Palaeolithic Era.
