Your day of discovering Italy's great art cities begins in Florence. From there, it's a short drive to Lucca, which is surrounded by renaissance-style, tree-lined walls. Stroll through the city's quaint and narrow streets to discover Lucca's unique architecture. Highlights include:

• Piazza S. Michele
• Palazzo Pretorio
• Piazza del Mercato
• Gothic Cathedral of San Martino and the tomb of Ilariadel Carretto
• Torre Guinigi

After Lucca, it's on to the flat Versilian coast and the seaside town of Viareggio. Famous for its beautiful beaches, Viareggio also boasts the "Viale del Mare," an elegant strip of cafés, restaurants, and shops. Other highlights include Viale Margherita with its chalet and cafés, including the Gran Caffè Margherita, a Liberty style-building symbol of the city. The tour's lunch break is in Viareggio.
