Boboli Garden Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

The central perspective opens onto the amphitheatre, where entertainments were once given by the Medici. The Habsburg-Lorraine family added a basin, surmounted by an obelisk in 1841. To the right of the amphitheatre, the majestic Viottolone, a pine and cypress avenue, leads downhill to the circular Piazzale dell'Isolotto island with a lake in the centre, decorated with statues amid lemon and orange trees and the Ocean Fountain (1576). On the opposite side, the left-hand path leads to Fort Belvedere and the Kaffeehaus, a folly where refreshments are served. A ramp leads back towards the Palace and, on the right to the Grand Grotto where Buontalenti used Rococo ornament to create a fanciful decor. In the Garden, the Cavaliere pavilion is home to the Porcelain Museum containing collections of Sévres, Frankental, Augarten, Meissen and Saxon porcelain of various origins.
