Maremma has two faces: there is the Maremma with a past rich in history - archaeological sites, medieval market towns - and the Maremma of untouched open spaces begging to be explored (by foot or on horseback), a real haven that will enchant young and old alike. Why not start with Grosseto and its remarkable museum, then visit the Vetulonia necropolis, one of the most important of Northern Etruria. Go hiking in the Parco Naturale della Maremma, which is almost entirely occupied by the peaks of the Monti dell'Uccellina, which run parallel to the coast.
