: Michelin's recommendations
Elba is the largest island in the Tuscan archipelago, which also comprises Gorgona, Pianosa, Capraia, Giglio, Giannutri and Montecristo. Linked to the mainland by regular ferries from Piombino, the island makes a pleasant base for a holiday with plenty to see and do. It boasts unspoilt landscapes of small creeks, caves and beaches surrounded by lush green Mediterranean vegetation, dominated by Monte Capanne (1 018m). The island is also famous as the site of Napoleon’s captivity.
